About NMSC

who we are

If you can swim eight laps of the pool (200M) and can tread water for two minutes, are 18 years of age or older, and like the idea of fitness or competitive swimming, then Masters swimming may be for you.

The Nepean Masters Swim Club (NMSC) was formed in 1977 and is now the largest Masters Swim Club in Canada. The club's objective is to promote adult fitness through swimming. The club is managed by a volunteer executive committee elected from the club's membership each year. The club activities are also run by volunteers.

We have over 230 members in four main core groups and two sub-groups. NMSC swims at the Walter Baker Sports Centre pool in Barrhaven from early September to early June. Most years, we also run a summer maintenance program for continuing swimmers.

Our members range in age from eighteen to early 70's and in swimming ability from just able to swim a few laps to world record holders. Each swim period offers a workout program, designed by the club coaches, to meet the individual needs and expectations of the swimmers. Programs are offered in the areas of conditioning and competitive swimming. Some of our members choose to compete at sanctioned swim meets, but many swim only for the great exercise and camaraderie.
