GO FOR IT!

( by Dave Kriger)

Attitude is the thing in the Nepean Masters Swim Club. Attitude makes you want to be fit -- not just 'look good' in a swim suit (although that's certainly a tangible benefit to membership in the club).

Attitude makes you want to push your own personal boundaries. Boundaries are not always measured by how many swim records you set (even if you compete at all), but by how much more energy you have in your everyday activities -- and by how many more activities you want to do. Attitiude says there is no such thing as growing old gracefully, because real attitude is for the mature.

Attitude says that now that the children are old enough to be in school, or have left home, or you've settled into your job, it's time to do something for yourself. Some of us hold national Masters' swim records; some once swam competitively (and still do); some look for the disciplined training that only a regular workout can provide. Some compete -- the 1994 World Masters Swim Championships were held in Montreal's Olympic Pool -- while others are in it strictly for the fitness. Each of us benefits from a cooperative, encouraging cameraderie. Our well-trained coaches work us hard, but they encourage us hard, too.

So, go for it! All you need is attitude!
